PARIS, Oct 6, 2009 / FW/ — Perhaps I was feeling homesick when I was at the Guy Laroche show because when I saw the “desert” represented on the catwalk, my first thought was not the Sahara but the Trans Pecos Desert in West Texas.
The looks are Euro-chic like the gray A-line gray skirt paired with a cut-away blouse with oversized lapels that goes all the way down the mid-thigh; or the tri-zippered leather jacket and front-pleated leather blouse and finally the black & white geometric print shift dress with asymmetrical shoulder.
Any girl wearing these will stand out, and hear “she’s not from around here.” Strangely enough, the locals will not think of them as European but girls from the big cities of Texas – Dallas, Houston and Austin, because quite frankly, Texas might not be a fashion leader, but it is a good fashion follower.
