MONTREAL, FEBRUARY 15, 2011 – First to start the fashion weeks’ marathon in North America, Montreal had prepared a lot for this 20th edition.

With a longer schedule of 4 days, rather than 3, the designers of this edition bring their best to present their collections. We’re glad that new designers were the breaking point of this edition.

Big names were there too, such as Marie Saint Pierre or Denis Gagnon, but new designers really gave the tone by bringing a new energy to the MFW. Finally, we had to see what newcomers had to offer, and we are agreeably surprised.

On an other good note, Group Sensation mode, the organization behind the Montreal fashion week, made a big step in changing dates for this 20th edition. ‘

This change has had an undeniable impact on the visibility of Montreal’s designers, by bringing a new crowd of buyers and journalists who were unable to come by the past. That’s why these new dates have been targeted based on the international fashion calendar, and as a result, placed MFW on the eve of New York Fashion Week, delivering the message: “A stopover on talent and the difference: Montréal, just an hour’s flight from the Big Apple”.

By far, this was one of the most appreciated editions of the Montreal Fashion week. Talent, creativity and difference were for sure present to surprise us and make us rediscover Montreal designers’ ability to create great collections.
